- Contingency: Payment is due only upon the successful completion of a search
- Full retainer: This payment method generally is used for upper-level searches or when there is a need for extreme confidentiality.
- Retainer/Contingency: A portion of the estimated fee is due at the beginning of the search with the balance due only if the search is completed successfully.
